Paint your Outfit

This write-up is for all those creative minds who want to add something new to their wardrobe. I am posting a few pictures of a dress that was messed up by a tailor, but later enhanced with the help of my friend, Kalyani!

It all began when I saw a nice material of my favorite color Red! The right shade of red I have been looking out for a while. And there I go with 3meters of that material all mine, with the thought of stitching a plain kurti out of it.

When news about an engagement and wedding in the family reach my ears, my creative mind boils out plans of making a good salwar set from that piece of red material I have. Thus, I take another material that would go with it and get a shawl dyed to go with it.

I go to a boutique so that I get a classy salwar set stitched out.

However, to my despair the embroidery I selected for the salwar and the one the tailor sewed was poles apart. I was furious and yell, “Didn’t I inform you that it’s to wear for a special occasion?? And, there comes the tailor’s cut-and-dried response, “this is what you asked me to do, but you imagined more to it.” What ever bit was sewed also looked so unprofessional. However, because the tailor had done a good job with the cutting & stitching part, I left her boutique, consoling myself that I can get another ready-to-wear set for the engagement.

WHAT DO I DO?????????????

My friend, Kalyani who came along with me assured me that there is a way out. And, she takes me to a small shop where they sell beads, motifs, laces, and stuffs that are used to design a dress:) Yippee….like a child who reached a toy shop, my eyes glow with excitement at the thought of exploring with the shining beads to embellish the dress. My friend and I start experimenting with the various beads and motifs and finally design a pattern. To add to my happiness, I also find fabric glue…the only job left for me was to stick the motifs and beads as per the pattern we designed on :) Here are the pictures of the various stages of the dress and the final outcome.

So, all you creative heads put on your thinking cap and get going for a self designed outfit!!!

The Source of Strength

Till a time when we are down without a ray of light, our relationship with GOD remains more of a Hi & Thank You GOD kind. Sometimes, when we feel that the last ray of light is also gone, there is only one source of strength that we know of to blindly rely on. It's the Power, or how I name it My GOD! Like how a battery needs to be with it's charger when it's power goes down, we want to connect with GOD when we are down:-)

When we feel weaker than the world, we can so easily call out and connect to GOD. Abba, be there!!! is my regular one liner at such moments. Another of one such liner is, "Never pass me by Oh GOD! At such weak moments, we easily connect to GOD, feel GOD in us, and converse with GOD right at the place where we are; unlike other happy times, when we need to be at a prayer area to look at a picture of our favorite GOD to feel connected:-) With ease we pull a conversation with GOD, and shoot all our questions to GOD...Why me? What have I done? Isn't there a way out? Can you set things right for me? and the questions goes on. But, the best part is, at such times, mostly you get the answers within -- You are my favorite child, Trust me, I am your GOD, I am working in your favor, If not for me, who else can set this right for you:-)...the answers flow in filling strength and peace within you! And there we go, charged up to face the world all over again and waiting for GOD to set things right.

And the life cycle goes on, with the pointer now facing towards the Hi & Thank You GOD relation with GOD (now that you have got the answer that GOD will set things right for you;-) till the pointer faces the last ray of light again for you to feel connected again.

How mean and selfish can man be to GOD? And yet, there is immense flow of grace, forgiveness, and strength right there!!!

Prayers go up and blessings flow down.
